“To be alive encompasses more than just a beating heart; one must take care to get to know the surrounding world, interact with it, and take in any responsive outcomes. One must try to experience and savor the world, while also focus on moving forward. The process of relationship building with reality give meaning to “being alive.” Leland must understand this quite well, because the joy of life is present in his art.” —Nanjo Fumio, Director of Mori Art Museum Tokyo, Japan
