Infinite Grace: An Artist’s Workshop and Retreat with Makoto Fujimura
Makoto Fujimura and Fujimura Fellows will lead an art intensive, two-day workshop surrounding the use of Japanese Gofun (pulverized oyster shell) Nihonga technique. The workshop will include studio mentoring and collaborative discussion exploring ideas surrounding the Theology of Making and Culture Care issues connected with the process of art making.*
Public lectures on Friday and Saturday will give an opportunity for a larger audience to share in this discussion and exploration.
The weekend also includes a Saturday evening concert of Arvo Pärt’s “Passio” performed by the Gloriæ Dei Cantores in the Church of the Transfiguration.
*Workshop participants should feel free to bring materials and paper with which they are accustomed (watercolor, gouache, watercolor paper, etc). The workshop fee includes all the materials that are needed, and these will be given to each artist at the beginning of the workshop.
