Reflections Part 2

Delro Rosco, one of the artists that participated in the Lumen Christi art retreat, has kindly shared his experience and photographs of his work from the retreat. Delro lives in beautiful Hawaii and travelled all the way to Cape Cod to participate in the weeklong retreat.

“Attending the Lumen Christi art workshop taught by world renowned artist Gabriele Wilpers was a true gift. I expected some things such as learning art techniques, meeting new people and being in an environment that is incredibly beautiful. After having some time to sift through all of the outstanding moments throughout the week, I realized how blessed and “filled up and overflowing” this experience has been.

As an artist who chooses to be a Christian, I was encouraged that I am not alone in this journey and life purpose to create art. The hospitality of our host (the Community of Jesus) was loving and genuine to the point of feeling undeserving of this. Our instructor Gabriele and her husband Herbert were so encouraging and sincere about their desire to inspire every student, wanting them to succeed in creating beautiful work. The people I broke bread with were wonderful and I’m certain we’ll cross paths again. We worked hard, never took things too seriously, understood our limitations and in the end shared the realization that we serve an incredibly loving, generous and creative God.

I am encouraged that He wants us to open our sails to be free, to experience a new creativity and future life journeys with Him. I am so grateful and blessed for coming and saying “yes” to God.”
